Data Analyst

£24,582 - £32,471 + benefits London

Build on your data analysis, statistical and SQL skills at the GMC. We're looking for a Data Analyst to take on a stimulating new role within our Intelligence Unit, on a 12-month contract.

As the UK's independent medical regulator, we work to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine by doctors. Our evidence-based research programme is crucial to informing our policy-making process and achieving our objectives. Could you provide vital support to the programme?

The role will involve identifying and gathering data from both internal and external sources for ongoing or ad hoc analysis, and performing QA checks to ensure the data is fit for purpose. As well as assisting with the interrogation of datasets, you'll work closely with our Research Statistician to carry out statistical analysis of data. Key will be your ability to quickly become familiar with the techniques we use to disseminate our findings.

You must have a relevant qualification plus data analysis experience in a working environment. Along with knowledge of SQL, you'll need strong skills in manipulating and interrogating databases - the GMC's core datasets are held on a Siebel system. Strong time management and prioritising skills will be important, as will the ability to use analytics to present improvement recommendations.

In addition to gaining valuable experience, you can look forward to a generous benefits package that includes private medical insurance, free health checks, cycle to work scheme and childcare vouchers.
