RMIT offers great employee benefits such as flexible, family-friendly policies; discounted public transport tickets; subsidised gym membership; onsite childcare facilities (subject to availability); salary packaging initiatives and a generous superannuation scheme.
The Professor of Design, Multifunctional Structures will be based in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. This position is focussed on engineering design of lightweight structures using contemporary technologies and methods that are transferrable to different application domains, such as aerospace, automotive, architecture and others. The focus on weight reduction using high performance materials, such as fibre reinforced polymers, titanium and advanced metallic alloys has been spurred by a number of global trends and drivers, including the increased importance of resource efficiency in design and manufacture, rising cost, increasing scarcity of fossil fuel supplies, and the environmental impact of vehicle and aircraft emissions.

The Professor of Design will lead cutting edge research in lightweight design across disciplines and employ new generation multifunctional structures and materials that have the capacity to meet the demands of technical requirements in ways not possible in the past.
As one of five new Professorial appointments in Design, together with RMIT's current research leaders with a design focus, you will cement RMIT's position as a globally competitive design research and educational institution.
