Programme Officer

Location Brussels, Belgium


Summary

The Programme Officer position will support regional programming for the Europe/Eurasia region and EU and Belgian fundraising for SFCG globally; as well as monitor EU policy developments for external actions. The position reports to the Vice-President of International Development and Europe Director, who is based in Washington DC, and works closely with SFCG’s Macedonian and Kosovo offices. The position involves some travel within Europe and Eurasia. The candidate needs to be eligible to work in Belgium, either as an EU citizen or with a valid work permit.




Responsibilities

Programme Support/Development for Europe and Eurasia

  • Support the roll-out of SFCG’s strategy for Europe and Eurasia
  • Support the design and development of SFCG programmes in Europe and Eurasia
  • Produce project proposals for European and American donors
  • Be engaged in the continuing development of the organisation, its mission and its staff, through the sharing of experience and knowledge, particularly contributing to its Institutional Learning initiative

Fundraising for SFCG Globally

  • Provide ongoing advice and quality control for all project proposals submitted to the EC
  • Liaise with Brussels’ based donors on SFCG’s projects across the world

Policy

  • Participate in the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO) working groups and events
  • Represent SFCG at different geographic and thematic meetings in Brussels and in Europe
  • Update SFCG country offices on policy developments going on at EU level

Other

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed
  • Recruit and supervise interns

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters’ degree in international development, international relations, conflict resolution or other related field
  • Three years of work experience in conflict resolution, international development or related field
  • Knowledge/experience in the Balkans and/or Eurasia is desirable
  • Written and oral fluency in English
  • Working knowledge of French is required; Russian is desirable
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience in proposal writing and development for the EU
  • Ability to represent projects professionally to a variety of audiences
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with strong attention to details
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
