Job Title: Corporate Fundraising Assistant
Location: Temwa Office, Hamilton House

Duration of work: 2 days a week

Temwa is in need of someone to strengthen their UK Corporate fundraising strategy and increase potential sponsors. We need a dedicated person who can join the UK team to work on corporate relations, increasing corporate links and developing the PR and external communications for potential corporate partners. The position is a part time internship and the successful candidate will be honest, confident, have a passion for international development, in particular they should be interested in the development of Malawi. He or she will report directly to Temwa’s UK Fundraising & Communications Coordinator, although they will also be supported by the UK Director.

Key Duties:

1) Managing Temwa’s current corporate partnerships:
• Continuing to ensure that corporate partners are acknowledged through website, social media and communications
• Communicating with partners about Temwa and our projects
• Assisting with upcoming corporate workshops & meetings
• Assisting in the development of Corporate Sponsorship strategy
• Supporting existing corporate fundraising events

2) Researching potential partnerships
• Researching possible local and national businesses who could be suitable partners for Temwa
• Researching global and national Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines and criteria to increase effectiveness of our strategy and approach
• Developing organisation Corporate Social Responsibility policy and objectives

3) Creating content for corporate solicitation packs:
• Developing on the solicitation pack Temwa already has, tailoring it to be more effective to specific businesses and organisations
• Making initial contact and developing relationships with new possible partners
• Aiding in the creation of presentations and workshops to potential meetings

4) Other responsibilities:
• Assisting with fundraising events and activities and providing support at events
• Some office administration tasks as required
• Communicating with staff in Malawi to collect up-to-date information about projects, whilst also communicating effectively with UK team to aid in the development and delivery of corporate strategy.
• Organise research for fundraising efforts and projects



Experience, qualifications and requirements:

• Experience of working or volunteering with NGOs or charities essential.
• Experience of writing articles, pamphlets or information packs essential.
• IT and word processing skills essential.
• Extremely good oral and presentation communication essential.
• Adept research skills essential
• Excellent written and communication skills essential.
• Experience of working in corporate fundraising desirable.
• Experience of working with websites desirable.

Temwa was registered as a UK charity in December 2003 and currently employs 30 full time members of staff in Malawi, with a part time UK Director and Development Manager in the UK who are supported by UK Fundraiser and a team of part time volunteers. We believe the role will provide an interesting and rewarding opportunity in a small, dynamic and not always conventional organisation. As a rapidly growing NGO, working as a key part of the UK team will give you a pivotal role in the organisations ongoing development.
