Head of Barter Trading
Our client is a leading international FMCG Company with its headquarters in the French speaking part of Switzerland. The company is seeking the Head of Barter Trading who will be responsible to lead this newly created function to engage in barter trade transactions, i.e. directly exchange goods with third parties without a cash element. Beyond barter trading, this function also covers ‘counter trading’ more broadly, i.e. it also includes the exchange of obligations or time-deferred purchase of specific goods.
In terms of experience and competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:
Knowledge, experience/technical expertise:
• Extensive experience in corporate trading / barter trading /counter trading
• Experience in the laws and regulations that affect corporate trading, barter trading and counter trading (e.g. tax, corruption and export laws)
• Experience in a large corporation with culturally diverse teams
• University degree
• Strong negotiations skills
• Fluent in English; any other languages are an asset
Core leadership competencies:
• Has demonstrated the ability to develop and implement an effective corporate trade strategy with the ability to create effective solutions
• Ensures smooth and effective organizational build up and execution of the corporate trade function
• Excellent management and organizational skills. Solid business acumen and commercial understanding
• High sense of integrity, possesses self-confidence
• Strong interpersonal skills, including a high level of networking, and influencing skills
• While working in a challenging and fast-paced environment, the candidate needs to be diplomatic and gracious in manner, comfortable in building bridges, and in developing networks and relationships in a variety of constituencies with international scope.
