Mine Engineer - Petra Diamonds

Sedibeng Diamond Mine JV

The Sedibeng operation includes the Messina and Dancarl Mines and is located in the Warrenton District, Northern Cape Province in South Africa.

Mine Engineer
Reporting directly to the Mine Manager, the Mine Engineer will be responsible for managing the engineering department and will take legal responsibility for men and machinery, obtain optimum machine and underground equipment performance, engineering availability as well as achieve production targets.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Legal appointee for the mine
  • Develop, implement and monitor adherence to engineering standards and legislative requirements, taking corrective action where necessary
  • Allocate resources to project teams in consultation with relevant Section Heads
  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems
  • Drive and implement action plans to achieve the mine strategy and business plans
  • Set and prepare financial budget for the section
  • Keep abreast of market trends and new technology
  • Ensure the effective management and control of human resources for optimal utilisation.

Minimum requirements:

  • B degree or National Higher Diploma in Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)
  • Operational experience in an underground mine
  • Operational experience in a leadership role
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
  • Sound computer skills.
