RESEARCHER
The Egyptian Press and Information Office exists to assist the Egyptian government in monitoring U.S.-Egyptian relations, American perceptions of Egypt, and U.S. domestic affairs as well as assisting journalists traveling between Washington, D.C. and Cairo. Although a part of the Ministry of Information, we work closely with the Egyptian Embassy in D.C. The researcher supports the activities of the press office through writing, translating and providing analysis of current affairs in both countries.
Job Responsibilities:
· Complete memos and research projects on issues pertinent to Egypt
· Translate documents from English to Arabic and vice versa
· Monitor U.S. media coverage of Egypt and produce analytical reports
· Attend events in the D.C. area and report back to the office
Qualifications
· Two or more years of relevant work experience (preffered but not required)
· Knowledge of the Middle East region, Egypt, and the U.S.-Egyptian relationship
· Knowledge of the U.S. media and political landscape
· Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Middle East Studies or a related field
· Fluency in both English and Arabic, as well as excellent translation skills
· Strong writing and analytical capabilities in both languages
· Demonstrated ability to conduct research and produce superior reports
· Background living in Egypt or the Middle East is preferred, but not required
