Small Enterprise Development Advisor

Welthungerhilfe through its project “Capacity building program of Agricultural Business Centres (ABCs) in Bo District” aims to support the capacity building of ABCs to provide quality services in agriculture, processing and marketing of agriculture products to their members which enables them to improve their livelihoods. The project is to produce the main results a) ABCs are functional and support a promising commodity value chain, b) ABC executives and farmers are trained in technical, financial and organisational aspects of agriculture, business management as well as managerial skills to run an ABC and make use of it and c) ABC are constructed and equipped according to standard. Welthungerhilfe in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) will implement this programme to support the implementation of the Global Agriculture Food Security Programme (GAFSP) under the Smallholder Commercialization Programme (SCP) in Sierra Leone.

Duty Station: Bo with frequent travel to 27 ABCs in 15 Chiefdoms

Duty and responsibility areas:

Small Enterprise Development Advisor (SEDA) will work as part of a team that is responsible for engaging in capacity building of ABCs while collaborating with small-and medium- sized scale enterprises, and other business and government stakeholders in the region.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in key areas related to business growth and development including: business planning, financial modelling, costing and pricing, business finance, product development and marketing, sales management, value chain development for market based solution and organizational development. The following qualifications are required

Qualifications required:

- University degree and/or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Finance, Investment, Consulting, Strategic and Business Planning, Marketing, and Sales,

- Proven experience developing business plans and conducting business assessments/evaluations

- Experience providing business development support services
- Prior experience in Value Chain approach to development

- Experience working in the sectors of Agriculture and Food Processing is desired

- Prior experience living and working in southern part of Sierra Leone

- Prior experience working on projects funded by FAO or other major donors desired

- Must have solid communication, presentation and coordination skills
- Driver’s licence for motorcycles
- Fluent in English and Mende.

Duration: 10 months starting soon.
