Communications Manager INHOPE


The INHOPE Organisation
INHOPE is the International Association of Internet Hotlines. INHOPE coordinates a network of Internet Hotlines all over the world, supporting them in responding to reports of illegal content to make the Internet safer. INHOPE was founded in 1999 and has grown to a network of 43 Hotlines in 37 countries across the globe. Together the Internet Hotlines are working to support and ensure swift action in responding to reports of illegal content especially Child Sexual Abuse Material.
Role Purpose
The Communications Manager reports to the Executive Director and plays a key role in developing, designing and managing an external and internal information and communication plan in order to inform and promote the activities of INHOPE.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Communications Manager supports the Executive Director in defining a communications and marketing strategy matching the objectives of the INHOPE Network as set out by the Members Executive Comittee.
  • The Communications Manager initiates, develops and monitors dissemination strategies through online activities via multiple internet accesible devices (developing and updating websites and social media) as well as traditional publications.
  • Generates traffic to the INHOPE website including management of search engines optimisation advisors. Acts as the focal point for information dissemination across the INHOPE- network through website, email-lists, members meetings and newsletters.
  • Supports the General Secretariat in organizing events including awareness raising events and evaluates the outcomes.
  • Initiates, develops and monitors activities aimed at strengthening the brand of INHOPE and maximises PR opportunities at all events. Builds and maintains relationships and networks.
  • Provides regular analysis and reports of statistics derived from INHOPE resources.
  • Develops and implements strategies and programs to facilitate the exchange of information with, and participation of the Members of INHOPE.
  • Develops and delivers communications training programmes and workshops for Members.
Knowledge and skills required
  • Degree in Communications or equivalent and > 4 years professional experience
  • Extensive knowledge of effective methods, practices and techniques of verbal and written communications and interpersonal relation skills
  • Proven experience of PR, marketing and corporate communications, media relations and managing negative media coverage
  • Excellent command of English as well as a good command of Dutch (other languages a plus)
  • Experience in organizing events and conferences
  • Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiatives
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently and to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with people from different professional and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent ICT skills including use of MS suite of software and similar or alternative products
Desirable
  • Understanding of the NGO / EU umbrella organizations, in particular the ability to forge a consensus within a large de-centralized membership organization
  • An understanding of how the European Commission operates
  • Experience in and understanding of internet censorship
  • An appreciation of children's rights / child protection issues
Salary / Contract
The salary we offer is dependent on experience € 45.000 (negotiable)
A position comes with an initial contract for 1 year which, dependent upon performance, would be converted to a permanent contract.
