IICD Crossmedia Officer


IICD is a non-profit foundation that specialises in information and communication technology (ICT) as a tool for development. IICD is active in Africa and Latin America. We work with mobile phones, tablets, computers and other Information and Communication Technology to bring social and technical innovations that create and enhance development opportunities in economic development, education and healthcare. For maximum impact we work closely with partners from the public, private and non-profit sectors.

To strengthen our Community Relations Team, we are looking for: 
Crossmedia Officer
As IICD’s creative and hands-on Crossmedia Officer, you are the crucial link between IICD and its off and online audience. You are dealing with all communications about our activities. This is done via social media, website, events, press releases, publications, videos and reports.
Summary of key responsibilities
  • Writing and collecting stories/news items for IICD’s website on a regular basis;
  • Improve and update IICD’s website, newsletters and social media on a regular basis;
  • Strategy, management and expansion of IICD communities (Twitter, Facebook, Google+)
  • Liaise with video production offices to have promotional IICD videos produced;
  • Liaise with designers to have publications and proposals designed;
  • Copywriting of IICD publications and proposals;
  • Basic designing of IICD publications and proposals.
Must haves:
  • Education level equivalent to Dutch HBO- or University;
  • Proven excellent writing skills in English for offline and online audiences;
  • Experience in the use of content management through website and social media;
  • At least 3 years of experience in a professional role as a multimedia professional;
  • Proven experience in all aspects of modern (crossmedia) journalism (preparation, interviewing, writing, distribution to audience);
  • Excellent and demonstrated knowledge of multimedia (visual and narrative);
  • Proactive, independent, eager to beat deadlines, with high professional standards and with a great passion for communications and multimedia;
  • In possession of a Dutch working permit;
  • Available as from Feb 1, 2013.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good knowledge of Photoshop, Indesign, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro a plus;
  • Good knowledge of the non-profit sector and ICT for Development a plus;
  • Experienced in working as multimedia professional in an international (development) organization a plus;
  • Fluent in Dutch and/or French and/or Spanish a plus.
