PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER World Learning
World Learning, committed to empowering people and strengthening institutions through distinctive international education, exchange and development programs, seeks a President and CEO.
For 80 years, World Learning has envisioned a just world driven by engaged citizens and thriving communities. It works toward this in three ways:
* International education and exchange programs provide rising leaders with transformative international experiences. The Experiment in International Living, SIT Study Abroad, and the International Honors Program offer high school and undergraduate students the chance to have immersive, life transforming experiences in more than 50 countries.
* International development projects strengthen individuals and institutions so they can take ownership of their own development and create meaningful change. World Learning’s International Development Programs prepare communities worldwide to effectively address critical issues such as poverty, educational access, the spread of HIV/AIDS, the marginalization of women and children, and government accountability.
* Graduate and professional education prepares people to be effective leaders and social change agents through accredited Master’s, certificate, and training programs. The accredited SIT Graduate Institute offers internationally focused full-time and low-residency Master’s degrees, as well as certificate and professional development programs.
Working with people from 140 countries, World Learning promotes a brand of leadership that mixes self-awareness and humility with an appreciation for other cultures and context.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President and CEO is responsible for leading a strong, complex organization with distinct programs, ensuring that each is self-sustaining. With the support of an excellent leadership team, s/he will drive the fulfillment of a recently completed strategic framework and will manage a $130M operating budget which is primarily funded through tuition and program fees. As its public face, World Learning’s President and CEO will travel extensively, representing the organization to stakeholders and the world. S/he can be based in either of World Learning’s two administrative headquarters -- Brattleboro, VT or Washington, D.C.
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for international education and development and a track record of success leading a complex organization. S/he must have the personal presence and communication skills to be an engaging ambassador and advocate for World Learning in the US and internationally, a strong track record in hiring and retaining successful professionals, demonstrated success in raising significant financial support and managing budgets.
The Board of Trustees has named a five member Search Committee of the Board. Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm, has been retained to assist in the recruitment of the new President and CEO. All inquiries, nominations and applications, including a resume and cover letter, should be directed in confidence to: Alan Wichlei, Vice President and Director and Phillip Petree, Consulting Associate, ISAACSON, MILLER, 263 Summer Street, 7th Floor, Boston, MA 02210, E-mail: WLCEO@imsearch.com.
