Rio Tinto Iron & Titanium (RTIT), part of the Diamond and Minerals group of Rio Tinto, is a major supplier of high grade titanium feedstock used in the production of pigment. It is also a producer of high quality iron and steel and iron and steel powders. RTIT is currently mining and processing titanium ore in Canada, Mozambique and South Africa and operating upgrading facilities in both Canada and South Africa.

A forecast growth in the demand for high grade titanium feedstock leads RTIT, through its TiO4 Project, into the assessment of growth opportunities in both its mining and processing facilities as well as upgrading installations.

A project team is being assembled in Canada, Mozambique and South Africa to assess and then implement the best scenario to meet the Project’s objectives of forecast growth in demand. The project team, through the various phases of the engineering design cycle, will be defining and evaluating different mining, processing and upgrading options prior to actively participate in the implementation of the one approved.
