Located 900 km North-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria, Weipa is owned and operated by Rio Tinto Alcan. Reporting to the Superintendent Plant Maintenance, you will be responsible for providing quality electrical and instrumentation maintenance to the site.
 
Your key responsibilities will include:
 
• Implementing effective maintenance improvements to plant and equipment in critical areas of the operations
• Ensuring timely and cost effective repairs with minimal down time                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
• Investigating and repairing maintenance breakdowns by implementing corrective actions to mitigate the risk of future breakdowns
• Ensuring the operational success and availability of designated plant equipment
• Utilising the SAP maintenance management system and recording progress accurately and continuously
• Performing all duties in accordance with Rio Tinto’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
 
You will hold Electrical, Instrumentation or dual Electrical and Instrumentation trade qualification and possess extensive knowledge of electrical or instrumentation maintenance in an industrial, mining or processing environment. Your sound knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems as well as experience with Variable-Frequency (VF) drives and materials handling instruments will be considered advantageous. Additionally, your strong communication skills, team orientation, ability to work unsupervised and commitment to safety will ensure your success in this role.
