Human Resources Manager, Corporate Amcor Rigid Plastics - Greater Detroit Area


The Human Resources Manager, Corporate will be responsible for HR generalist activities in support of the Diversified Products, Shared Services, and RD&E organizations. This position will support teams located in both Ann Arbor and Manchester, MI.

Essential Duties:
  • Partner with leadership to manage employee relations and talent related activities
  • Manage administrative paperwork and updates for employee changes
  • Complete offer letters, PAF’s and other paperwork
  • Distribute announcements as assigned
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to manage the recruiting process for assigned areas
  • Complete exit interviews and new hire orientation
  • Manage employee relations issues and respond in a timely, professional manner
  • Participate and lead engagement survey action teams
  • Take an HR lead role on committees such as; activities, social responsibility
  • Present in employee meetings

Assist HR Director with the following activities:
  • Organizational development and training; engagement; change management
  • Talent Management, staffing, development and performance management, Safety and workers compensation
  • Diversity and Affirmative Action Planning
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Consulting with Legal Counsel on law changes and ensuring compliance
Employee / Labor Relations responsibilities:
  • Promote a positive work environment through compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state legislation in our HR practices
  • Ensure fair and consistent administration of company policy
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive Company, employee, and candidate information
  • Maintain current, accurate, and legally compliant employee files
  • Prepare and keep current, training materials and files
  • Conduct new employee orientation, including coordinating the on-boarding process o Manage the tuition reimbursement program, approvals and recordkeeping for corporate location
  • Coordinate communications of employee status changes with other departments
  • Completing compliance month end reports

  • High energy level; ability to multitask, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain professional composure and strong customer-service attitude
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience administering Human Resources Systems
  • Strong credibility and professional competence
  • Effective teambuilding and networking skills
  • Ability to support and implement centralized programs, standards and measure
  • Thorough understanding of US and regional state human resources legislation
  • Ability to facilitate and lead groups to key decisions
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Solid understanding and/or certification in safety, interviewing, training/development and compensation/benefits fields
  • Ability to identify and implement trends/best practice human resource initiatives and their potential for implementation

Education & Experience Required
  • Master’s Degree Highly Preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Prefer candidates who have worked in a combination of plant and corporate environments
