Human Resources Director in India


Make A Difference (MAD) is a platform that empowers youth to become change leaders who drive positive impact and create self-sustaining communities. We are committed to provide equal opportunities for all children and our vision is that some day every child can learn and pursue their passion.
MAD is based in Bangalore, India and operating in 23 cities across the country. Today it is one of India’s largest youth volunteer networks. 1200 volunteers participate in our projects and work with over 3000 children in 50 centers.
Our projects aim to provide a positive learning ecosystem for children in order for them to regain confidence and start believing in themselves. We currently run an English Teaching, Library, Career Awareness and Personality Development Program.
PURPOSE
We are looking for a young and dynamic person with experience in HR and team building strategies. The Human Resources Director will have the overall responsibility for the organization’s personnel and develop and implement Human Resources processes and practices that will provide an employee oriented working culture and a high performing team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning: - Design human resources strategy in alignment with the overall vision of the organization - Advise leadership team on human resource needs to support expansion and growth plans - Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure - Develop, implement and maintain strategic human resource policies and procedures to ensure effective management of staff throughout the organisation - Ensure an effective succession planning and career opportunities for employees
Recruitment: - Identify staff requirements on a national and regional level and provide support to the project heads in recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants - Complete pre and post recruitment formalities - Plan and conduct orientation and induction programmes for new employees - Create and update detailed job descriptions and appointment letters - Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination
Employee Relations: - Build a positive and employee oriented working environment and culture - Ensure that the employee handbook is comprehensive and updated on a regular basis - Inform managers and staff about all relevant human resources policies and procedures - Ensure good communication flow between different divisions and functions - Analyze training needs to design and conduct employee development trainings
Performance Management: - Create and implement performance appraisal system and materials - Oversee and document KPI’s for each position with division heads - Create calendar for performance review with division heads - Evaluation of overall employee performance and compensation management
Compensation - Ensure that remuneration matches industry standards - Develop yearly budget for all personnel costs and submit it to finance department - Produce and submit the payroll report to the finance department on a monthly basis
HR Staff Management: - Train human resources managers on a regional level to implement the organization’s human resources strategy incl. vacancies advertisement, recruitment, induction, performance system etc. - Coordinate volunteer recruitment in different cities - Be the point of contact for all HR related issues
Reporting and Data Analysis: - Maintain records and compile statistical reports on employee related data such as hires, transfers, exits and absences - Analyze statistical data to identify causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvements
Other duties as assigned
REPORTING STRUCTURES
The Human Resources Director will report directly to the CEO Support and work closely with the heads of the individual divisions. He/She will be supervising the HR Fellows on a regional level.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience - Post-Graduate or Master’s degree in human resources, industrial relations management or related field - 2-3 years of experience in similar position - Management experience is preferred
Skills and Abilities - High level of interpersonal skills and integrity - Ability to lead and contribute to the team - Effective mentoring and motivational skills - Very good problem-solving skills - Ability to plan and meet with deadlines - Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Good oral and written communication skills - Understanding of the NGO sector is an asset - Entrepreneurial spirit
