Finance Director in India


Make A Difference (MAD) is a platform that empowers youth to become change leaders who drive positive impact and create self-sustaining communities. We are committed to provide equal opportunities for all children and our vision is that some day every child can learn and pursue their passion.
MAD is based in Bangalore, India and operating in 23 cities across the country. Today it is one of India’s largest youth volunteer networks. 1200 volunteers participate in our projects and work with over 3000 children in 50 centers.
Our projects aim to provide a positive learning ecosystem for children in order for them to regain confidence and start believing in themselves. We currently run an English Teaching, Library, Career Awareness and Personality Development Program.
PURPOSE
We are looking for a young and dynamic person with a strong financial background to join our team. The Finance Director will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of all financial activities of MAD, as well as all legal related issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning - Align financial plan with the overall strategic plan of the organization - Formulate strategic and long-term financial plans for expansion and growth strategies of the organization - Advise leadership team on all financial and legal issues - Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
Finance and Accounting - Research to prepare and submit the annual budget - Create realistic expense budgets for each division - Develop fundraising goals for the resource mobilization team - Develop, implement, and manage a user friendly and effective system of accounting - Provide accurate monthly financial reports and analysis including income and expense statements - Monitor all cash flow, as well as document and predict trends - Manage the payroll system and ensure that all employees are paid on time - Design requisition and reimbursement processes for the regional and city level
Compliance - Ensure compliance with national financial and tax legislation and all related policies - Handle application for maintenance and renewal of all registrations: FCRA, 80G, 12A etc.
Staff Management and Training - Delegate tasks and responsibilities within the finance team - Train national staff in key aspects of financial and budgetary processes - Ensure that all employees understand their financial responsibilities
Other duties as assigned
REPORTING STRUCTURES
The Finance Director reports directly to the CEO Support and works closely with division heads on all budget related issues. He/She will be supervising the finance department, as well as all Finance Fellows on a regional level.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience - Master’s Degree in Finance, preferred CA from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) or MBA in Finance from a reputed institute - 3-5 years of experience in finance and accounting - Management experience is preferred
Skills and Abilities - Excellent budgeting and analytical skills - Strategic thinking and planning skills - Effective mentoring and motivational skills - Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of Tally Accounting Package is an asset - Good oral and written communication skills - Ability to multitask and meet deadlines - Attention to detail and high level of accuracy - Ability to lead and contribute to the team - Understanding of the NGO sector is an asset - Strong entrepreneurial spirit
