The Oyu Tolgoi (OT) project is a large surface and underground Greenfields copper and gold mining project in the Aimag of Omnogovi, located in the South Gobi region of Mongolia.  The mine is approximately 550 km south of the capital city, Ulaanbaatar (UB).
 
Rio Tinto brings to the partnership experience in project development and operating capability.  The initial mining operation will be open cut, with construction and development on underground mine occurring in parallel. First ore is planned for Q3 2012.  The project is currently in construction phase and further developments will occur as the underground is bought into production in 2016-17 and an expansion of the concentrator is likely.   
 
Reporting to the Superintendent – HME Maintenance for Open Pit, The Support Maintenance Superintendent is responsible to provide professional leadership and direction for the    department through the use of world class practices. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and communicate health, safety and environmental activities and expectations, production, maintenance, technical, administrative and other plant needs to effectively meet the Oyu Tolgoi LLC Mine Open Pit Maintenance and administrative goals. The Support Maintenance Superintendent is also responsible for the Support Equipment daily, Weekly and Monthly administration and supervision of the execution of maintenance activities within the Support Maintenance area. This role will provide leadership, direction and coordination of a balance between production and sound equipment asset management.
 
The Support Maintenance Superintendent is also responsible and accountable for the implementation and compliance with the Rio Tinto Asset Management and Oyu Tolgoi Safety and Maintenance Systems whilst managing a large fleet of Support equipment for the Tailings, Earth Works, Concentrator and Quarry.
 
To ensure success in this role, we are seeking individuals who hold Trade College level qualifications in engineering or a related field with more than 10 years’ experience in the mining industry.
 
Business Improvement Training in 5S/Lean/Six Sigma is an added advantage.
