Rio Tintois a leading international mining group headquartered in the UK. Rio Tinto's business is in finding, mining and processing mineral resources. Major products include aluminium, copper, diamonds, energy (coal and uranium), gold, industrial minerals (borax, titanium dioxide, salt) and iron ore.
 
Jadar Project is a pre-feasibility stage lithium and borates project with significant economic potential. The Jadar deposit contains the largest known lithium resource in Europe and is the world's only known lithium borates resource. A new process has been developed to convert Jadarite ore into technical grade Boric Acid and both technical and battery grade lithium carbonate. The project is located in the Jadar basin approximately 100km from Belgrade, Serbia
 
The Role:
 
The Process Engineer will be accountable for:
  • Overseeing and contributing to pilot and other test facilities, processing and making final products from the mineral raw materials
  • Developing novel chemical / metallurgical processes
  • Specification of process equipment and instrumentation
  • Taking part in designing and optimizing the mineral preparation and processing plant
  • Scientific and research activities in order to: define capital and operational costs, select adequate equipment and identify suppliers and contractors
  • Production of internal and external reports and harmonization with company plans
  • Interfacing with the Project Team to assist in the prefeasibility and feasibility studies
  • Coordinating the work of a team of experts with the tasks of internal and external consultants based in Serbia and internationally
  • Working closely with the Rio Tinto Minerals Team in the US
A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher ideally in Chemical, Mineral Processing or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Previous experience in a similar role; ideally gained in a process engineering environment
  • Ideally previous experience in the development of novel processes from the conceptual stage through commercialization
  • Knowledge of  industrial processes of preparation, processing and supplementing of non-metallic mineral raw materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability so solve complex algebraic problems and some calculus problems.

  • Very good command of English and Serbian language
