Project/Proposal Summary:
The Global Health Professional and Organizational Development (GHPOD) project supports USAID’s Global Health Bureau and health offices in USAID Missions. GHPOD increases the effectiveness of the USAID’s health sector workforce through trainings and team-building events that positively enhance group performance and individual skills in areas such as interpersonal communication, teamwork, leadership, managing change, process improvement, program management, integrated planning and control, and quality management. Activities may be offered as tailored classroom training, coaching, e-learning modules, or additional tools, resources, or job aids developed for staff.

Position Summary:
The Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Specialist will work with one other POD Specialist to support the Professional Development Advisor and the Organizational Development Advisor. This team of four will provide oversight and management of the activities undertaken by the project. Activities will be developed and/or facilitated by project staff members and/or consultants. The POD Specialist will be a full-time project staff member who works at the GHPOD project office in downtown Washington, D.C. The GHPOD project has been awarded for one base year, with two option years.

Responsibilities:
• Support the overall management and delivery of Professional Development and Organizational Development activities by:
1. As part of GHPOD team, building and maintaining strong relationships with client representatives.
2. Ensuring GHPOD trainer/OD specialist compliance with GHPOD quality standards and procedures.
3. Working with a program assistant to identify potential consultants, trainers, and facilitators to carry out POD activities.
4. Working with the PD Advisor and OD Advisor to develop and document best practices and innovations in PD and OD.
5. Supporting the evaluation of POD activities.
6. Assisting in drafting documents and writing reports, as needed.
• Develop training materials and curricula for POD activities that are consistent with adult learning principles.
• Provide direct service to clients through POD activities, which may include:
o Conducting needs assessments to determine appropriate PD or OD interventions.
o Planning and facilitating team-building retreats, consultative events, or other meetings.
o Co-designing and co-delivering training sessions ranging from a few hours to several days.
• Coordinate with the Training and Events Specialist (who is responsible for the logistical support of events) to ensure activities are carried out seamlessly.
• Up to 20% international travel.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in international affairs, public administration, organizational development, human resources, public health, or related fields required.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a trainer, facilitator, curriculum developer, or other related experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work closely and collaborate with a project director, other technical and administrative staff, consultants, and implementing partners.
• Strong writing skills.
• Previous experience with global health programs a plus.
• Previous experience with USAID a plus.
• Ability to travel internationally.
• Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other languages, particularly French, a plus.
