InfraCo Asia Development: Non-Executive Director

InfraCo Asia Development (“IAD”) is a privately managed infrastructure development company which aims to stimulate greater private sector investment in infrastructure projects. Funded by several European governments and the Australian government through the multi-donor Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), IAD acts as principal to develop commercially viable infrastructure that contributes to poverty reduction in low-income countries in South Asia and South East Asia. (For more information, see www.infraco.asia and www.pidg.org.)

IAD is seeking a high-calibre individual to join its Board as Non-Executive Director (NED). As a Director, the NED is expected to guide the management team and oversee all aspects of the company’s strategy, operations and financial performance. Board meetings are normally held in Singapore where IAD is based. Though not essential, there is strong preference for candidates residing in Asia.

Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have one or more of the following: (i) senior level experience in an infrastructure development or investment company/fund, or investment banking specialising in infrastructure project finance; (ii) successful track record of developing and closing infrastructure projects, managing joint ventures/partnerships in Asia or raising capital for investment in Asia; (iii) excellent contacts and relationships in South Asia and Southeast Asia including at senior levels in government.

Candidates must demonstrate: (i) an appreciation of the development mandate of IAD and the objectives of the PIDG and how these may influence decision making by the board compared to a fully commercial development company; (ii) a good standing in the region derived from an excellent track record of business and/or public sector achievement in Asia; (iii) an understanding of the governance issues involved in managing a publicly funded, privately operated company; and (iv) a good understanding of the different cultures in the region, probably gained through residence and work experience in Asia.
