Australian Red Cross Public Information Officer

Work with an UN humanitarian agency to develop culturally targeted information materials for Pacific Island nations, to help people prepare for disasters and access key information during emergencies.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (UNOCHA) coordinates humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors, in order to alleviate human suffering during disasters and emergencies.
UNOCHA acts as the secretariat for the Pacific Humanitarian Team, an international partnership that includes the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
UNOCHA is seeking a communications specialist to support the Pacific Humanitarian Team in mapping public information, education and communication materials in several Pacific Island countries. The volunteer will then help develop culturally targeted materials for each country, produced in local languages as needed and accompanied by a regional guide for disaster managers.
This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.
