Wales Today is BBC Wales’ flagship TV news programme. It broadcasts seven days a week and has a reputation of driving the news agenda in Wales in a challenging, insightful and creative way. The programmes provides a vital service to the Welsh audience by reporting on the main stories of the day but also in reflecting and challenging social, economic and political developments across the country. The programme also has an important role in marking significant cultural and sporting events.

Role

As a BJ you’ll be expected to generate original stories / programme ideas and turn them into engaging and creative television. You will be expected to write news scripts and bulletins, produce graphic sequences and edit and produce items. You will also be expected to learn camera and editing skills. There will also be opportunities to work on outside broadcasts too. 

Requirements

We are looking for a journalist with strong editorial judgement, research and broadcasting skills. You must be able to work enthusiastically, quickly and accurately under pressure. In addition you will have a thorough and in-depth understanding of Wales and Welsh Affairs. An understanding of the Wales Today audience is a must for this position and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate direct experience of issues affecting diverse communities in Wales.
