As a Broadcast Journalists in News and Current Affairs you could work across all output - radio, television and online.   You’ll be expected to prepare stories for broadcast on BBC Newsline or Good Morning Ulster or providing material for the web.

Role

You’ll initiate, produce and broadcast reports for a variety of news and current affairs outlets on radio, television and online. This is expected to be a multi-platform role with specific broadcasting skills.   You’ll contribute original ideas and develop these for output and help in planning material for future programmes.    You will also write scripts for tv, radio and online, under supervision,exercising editorial and legal judgement, professional journalistic standards and adhering to BBC policy and legal and contractual guidelines.   Furthermore, you’ll prepare and present tv and radio bulletins and prepare stories on news online. You will be expected to interview and report under direction, in both recorded and live situations, in studio or on location, for radio and television.   As well as producing live and pre-recorded radio news and current affairs output, you will have to prepare and edit radio and tv packages under supervision.

Requirements

You’ll either have a recognised journalistic qualification or practical experience in journalism.   You’ll have strong broadcasting skills, be able to deliver live reports on radio and television and have a good broadcasting voice.   You’ll have the ability to generate original story ideas, possess first class news judgement in addition to good writing and interviewing skills.   Furthermore, you’ll have knowledge of production techniques and facilities in radio, television and news online and the ability to develop tri-media production skills.   You’ll also have the ability to work under pressure in the field, in the newsroom and as part of a small team.
