Community Engagement Specialist, Jordan

Global Communities, formerly CHF International, is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.

Global Communities is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded rapid response community engagement program in Jordan. The program will work with local partners to strengthen community engagement in the context of regional volatility and transitions association with domestic policy reform, economic conditions and demographic changes. The program will focus on three primary components: 1. Expand NGO, community organization, professional association and government efforts to build resilience and address cohesion-related challenges; 2. Increase civil society-government-private sector cooperation in building resilience and addressing cohesion-related challenges; and 3. Strengthen skills and build other capacity relevant to community and national cohesion.

The Community Engagement Specialist will be the key liaison with target communities, facilitating broad participation in the process of identifying and implementing priority development projects to promote cohesion and resilience at the grassroots level. This position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications: • At least 5 years of experience working with Jordanian communities to implement development projects. • Proven ability to foster cohesion among different groups in Jordanian communities. • Demonstrated ability to promote resilience through developing the capacity of Jordanian communities. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Proven ability to engage women, youth, and other marginalized populations in community development activities. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English required. • Jordanian Nationals are encouraged to apply.
