Deputy Chief of Party, Jordan

Global Communities, formerly CHF International, is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.

Global Communities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated USAID-funded rapid response community engagement program in Jordan. The program will work with local partners to strengthen community engagement in the context of regional volatility and transitions association with domestic policy reform, economic conditions and demographic changes. The program will focus on three primary components: 1. Expand NGO, community organization, professional association and government efforts to build resilience and address cohesion-related challenges; 2. Increase civil society-government-private sector cooperation in building resilience and addressing cohesion-related challenges; and 3. Strengthen skills and build other capacity relevant to community and national cohesion.

The DCOP will support the COP in rapid startup and implementation of all program components through supervising local staff, contributing to program design, and making key decisions and solving problems in short time frames while ensuring operational and program integrity. This position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications: • At least 12 years of experience in development, community mobilization, or related fields. • At least 7 years of experience supervising staff on complex, fast-paced, and politically sensitive projects in emerging democracies. • Experience working on projects with large grant making and community engagement components. • Experience hiring and supervising host-country personnel with attention to their professional development. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. • Prior work in the Middle East required; Jordan experience preferred. • Fluency in written and spoken English required; Arabic skills preferred. • Jordan Nationals are encouraged to apply.
