The Stavanger Region European Office is seeking to recruit a European Affairs Adviser / Senior European Affairs Adviser to our office in Brussels. The office was established 20 years ago, as the first of six Norwegian regional offices.
Who are we looking for?
Since you will be representing the Stavanger Region in Brussels, we are looking for a candidate with solid understanding of political processes and good knowledge of the EU and the EEA agreement.
You are familiar with local and regional government, the R&D sector as well as business and industry, and are able to facilitate cooperation for regional growth and development.
You are inspired by various challenges – a company developing welfare technology, a researcher looking for new CCS solutions, an energy company’s concern for the role of gas in the future economy, a municipality seeking to understand procurement regulations. You also have interpersonal skills that enable you to communicate with this variety of actors.
Furthermore; you have experience with project development and international cooperation, and are interested in the Stavanger Region. You are a strategic thinker and able to analyse EU policies with relevance for the actors in the region. You will present EU/ EEA issues to the actors in the region; give presentations and write news articles.
You have higher education, outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Norwegian and English; and you preferably have a basic knowledge of French. ICT-knowledge is an asset.
Tasks:
The overall aim for the Stavanger Region European Office is to identify opportunities in the EU and Europe that contribute to growth and development in the Stavanger Region. On this background, the position includes the following tasks:
  • Analysing and informing about EU/EEA initiatives with relevance for regional actors like business, R&D and public authorities; through presentations, articles and newsletters
  • Represent the strategic interests of the region towards the EU-institutions, Norwegian and European actors. Participate in profiling and networking activities.
  • Facilitate business development and export of gods and services from the region.
  • Active use of EUs programmes, initiate and support regional actors in project development and partner search.
  • Organise training courses, seminars and study visits for the regional actors.
  • Maintain and develop the Office’s homepages www.stavangerregion.no

You will be representing a dynamic region with a strong international focus, working with an interested and active partnership and a secretariat that works well in linking the Brussels office with the partners in the region. You will have a positive work climate, be involved in all parts of the development and running the office and be able to shape the contents of your own position. We offer competitive conditions. The position is a three year contract, but there might be future openings.
