The Finance Analyst will support one of BBC Wales’ major initiatives (the Wales BH programme) which is currently in the process of refining the business case for a potential relocation of the BBC operations currently based in Llandaff. The role sits within the finance team of BBC Wales; this team delivers a business partnership role to the operational managers and BBC Wales staff locally. Their role is one of stewardship to ensure good governance and financial control over spend in BBC Wales.

Role

The role will provide financial advice and assistance to the Wales BH Programme Team as well as to key stakeholders of the programme (Wales COO, Divisional Financial Controller and BBC Wales business units/management teams). Your main responsibility will be to support the programme in ensuring a detailed and robust finance case is submitted at Finance Committee. In addition, the role will be responsible for monitoring project spends and undertaking ad-hoc project work as required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant* with experience of working within a large organisation of comparable size or complexity to the BBC and be able to demonstrate an exceptional level of interpersonal skills sufficient to establish credibility with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
From a financial perspective you will have experience of multi-million pounds’ finance case creation – including relevant financial model creation and presentation and defining and implementing project monitoring mechanisms and tools to report spend and forecast.
You will also have highly developed IT skills and an understanding of, and an ability to operate computer based financial management systems (preferably SAP). Microsoft Office skills to a medium/advanced level, particularly Excel are essential.
* ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA or equivalent qualification. Exceptional candidates in their final stages of qualification would also be considered.
