Finance Assistant Lima, Peru


Background / General description

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is expanding its Investment and Advisory services in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. IFC is working to expand IFC’s reach to underserved people at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

IFC Advisory Services in LAC is now seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant to perform the duties listed below. The appointee will report to the Regional Financial Controller and to the Finance Officer of LAC.

Duties and Accountabilities

The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Finance and Accounting:

* SAP Functions/ Imprest Administration
* SAP processing and payment of local staff salaries and benefits
* SAP processing and payment of travel advances and Statement of Expenses
* SAP processing / payment of POs, SES, SAP Invoices
* SAP processing and payment of office expenses
* SAP processing / payment to short term consultants
* Maintaining petty cash/bank payments journal
* Executing payment runs
* Reviewing payment vouchers and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy
* Maintaining and regularly reconciling all accounts
* Monitoring and replenishing petty cash/bank accounts funds
* Processing bank payments
* Implement cost sharing of expenses between various source of funds
* Preparing monthly Imprest accounting compliance reports


Facility/Program Funds Management, Analysis and Control:

* Ensuring implementation of and compliance with WB/IFC policies and procedures
* Monitoring use of Facility/Program funding for cash flow and budget availability; analyzing budget variances
* Ensuring replenishment of Facility/Program funding
* Regularly reviewing Facility/Program expenses for accuracy, proper approval, and identification of expense category, and ensuring correction of any errors or discrepancies

Reporting:

* Preparing standard program financial reports
* Preparing ad-hoc financial reports at the request of management

Miscellaneous:
* Ensuring TRS compliance and completeness of TRS records
* Ensuring finance archives are up to date and well organized
* Communicating with both internal (e.g., staff) and external (e.g., vendors) clients to effect timely payments and resolve accounting related issues
* Monitoring and ensuring reimbursement for personal telephone calls and other personal expenses.
* Monitoring and processing expenses related to vehicle use, mileage reimbursement
* Assisting the Finance and Budget Officers in budget preparation and monitoring
* Preparing ad-hoc reports related to the functions performed

Selection Criteria

Required:
• Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Administration, Economics or related specialty with at least 2 years of IFRS accounting experience in corporate setting.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, concepts and principles, financial accounting reporting, budgeting, cost allocation, among others.
• Proven practical skills in SAP applications: GL, AP/AR, journal entries, account reconciliations, budgeting, analysis of financial data, preparation of financial reports
• Advanced skills in Excel, working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidentially, articulate issues, and recommend solutions, both in English and in Spanish.
• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and international team environment.
• Ability and willingness to perform task management with limited supervision.
• Ability to deal flexibly with multiple, changing demands.
• The candidate should be able to: work independently, with moderate supervision, on complex issues; independently monitor and analyze large work programs and budgets; identify and discuss issues; organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines; understand, consistently apply and advise others on WB/IFC systems, tools and policies; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of business planning, work programming, budgeting and financial management; sustain working relationships with internal and external clients.

• Strong conceptual, analytical and evaluation skills
• Ability to analyze and synthesize information, interpret data, retrieve information and clearly and concisely summarize results
• Prior experience in ERP applications (SAP) a significant advantage
• Superb accuracy and attention to detail
• Recognized professional accreditation (CPA, CIMA, ACCA, etc) an added advantage
