Department

Classical Music TV is a Department within the Audio and Music Division of the BBC. This busy Department is responsible for much of the BBC’s classical music and dance programming on BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 and BBC4. Our core output includes the Proms, opera and ballet relays from The Royal Opera House, landmark documentary series and live event coverage. 

Role

Offered as a 21 week fixed term contract or attachment (22 April to 13 September 2013), Grade 2D.

Reportint to the Programme Producer or Production Manager, you'll  provide accurate, effective and timely support to the production team, to manage and organise a team of Runners and allocate duties to them both in the Production Office and on Location and to prepare the scores and CDs in the pre-production period. 

Requirements

You'll need to have some experience of running or junior office work in a TV production environment and a clear understanding of the logistical requirements of TV production process.  A good working knowledge of classical music is required, including score reading and the ability to interpret orchestral lay-outs.  Proms or Event experience is desirable.  You'll need a good knowledge of IT packages including Word and Excel. Knowledge of BBC systems is desirable but not essential.
 
Production can involve long and unpredictable work patterns and pressure to meet tight schedules. Normal office hours will generally apply, but a flexible approach to working time is required subject to the BBC’s Condition of Service Code of Practice and Equal Opportunities policies.
