Department

The Information Security, Governance and Compliance team sits within the wider IT & Technology Delivery function. Our team is responsible for managing and responding to the increasing information security challenges of the environment that the BBC operates in, particularly the increased use of third parties in providing services to the BBC divisions, and the migration from analogue to digital technologies in our content production and delivery.
We are currently delivering a number of proof of concept projects focused on enhancing our security toolset. One of these projects is focused on enhancing our usage of vulnerability assessment technology.

Role

You'll be responsible for ensuring the adoption and appropriate usage of vulnerability assessment technology by the various internal and outsourced technology support functions in the BBC. You’ll identify appropriate personnel within each support team and set up their access to the scanner and train them in its usage. You will then work with those teams to identify systems to be included in the scope of the project based on appropriate criteria. You will assist in troubleshooting and fixing any technical issues that may arise with the vulnerability assessment toolsets, and engage with the vendors as needed to ensure the service meets our requirements. You may also be expected to support other technical projects that form part of the current security programme.

Requirements

This role requires a broad understanding and background in IT infrastructure and networks (or the security of such). You'll have the ability to both convey and understand complex technical information relating to security vulnerabilities and IT infrastructure configuration. The ideal candidate will have a firm grounding in IT security concepts. You will need to be confident working with web application and system configuration interfaces.
