Lead e-Learning Specialist in Washington DC, United States

Deliver world-class e-learning programs so we can deliver a better world.

Over the past three years, the World Bank Institute has undergone a transformation, moving from a retail training institute to a modern institution delivering innovative services. Our new mission is to catalyze change to promote sustainable development, leveraging our access to major finance. By facilitating flows of knowledge, driving imaginative thinking and bringing together government and non-government stakeholders, we can make all the difference – and so can you.

Our e-institute is our virtual learning platform, with the objective of turning cutting-edge global knowledge into accessible and interactive content. Ensuring that we are recognised as the key tool for capacity building within the development community, you will foster a small team of colleagues and consultants and build on our success to date (including 55 courses and 15 webinars reaching over 6000 people). In particular, we will look to you to scale up our operations via external and internal partnerships whilst creating exciting, involving content on frontier areas of development. To this end, you will operate at both strategic and programmatic level: defining and strengthening our vision, giving us distinction in a crowded marketplace and embedding the latest advances in pedagogy, technology and social media.

Much of your time will be spent networking with key stakeholders within academic institutions, bilateral and multilateral bodies and centres of excellence, so excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Naturally you will bring extensive experience of designing, developing, implementing and evaluating distance learning and e-learning programs on development-related topics, backed by proven ability to deliver systemic change. Finally, your analytical and problem-solving skills should speak for themselves, and you must combine a hands-on approach with an engaging mentoring style – plus real passion for bringing about lasting change.
