PAL Plant Training Advisor » Sub Saharan Africa


Our Client - A large mining operation, with operations on the African Indian Ocean coast, is currently recruiting for a PAL Plant Training Advisor reporting to the Area Superintendent.

Job Description - The PAL Plant Training Advisor will be reporting to the Area Superintendent and will work as part of the Operations Team to assist in developing Safe Work Procedures and maintain and coordinate operational training and testing materials and competency standards and train and mentor personnel to safely and efficiently operate the Pressure Acid Leach Plant. Full responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Review PAL P&IDs, Process and Control Descriptions and Safe Work Procedures to identify and define training needs.

Develop, maintain and assist in the coordination of all operational training and testing materials.
Ensure all training and testing materials are easily accessible to operations personnel including tests, walkabouts, training checklists, operating manuals, standard operating procedures, course materials and self-taught training materials.

Ensure that operators receive effective training to meet the requirements of their positions and achieve competency to operate all equipment and systems within the plant in a reasonable time frame.
Ensure that safety and environmental procedures and standards are followed by plant personnel, and maintain close collaboration with the HSE department to ensure all workers are trained in safety and environment matters.

Ensure process/facility changes are continuously updated in training and testing materials and communicated to all operational personnel.

Maintain and communicate up to date calendar for all training activities and ensure all training and development is recorded in the plant training records system.

Assist technical and engineering staff in programs for on-going improvement of plant performance and equipment reliability and cost reduction.

Develop and administer the area operator progression system. Participate in recommendations for the selection and training of capable local national personnel for progression within the Department.

Candidate Requirements – The ideal individual will have completed secondary education together with at least 10 years of operating and supervision experience in a large chemical or metallurgical plant. The individual should have proven track record in training and mentoring personnel.
