Department

News Programmes is a multi-media department in News.  Its output includes 5Live, Asian Network News, HardTalk and World debates, Newsbeat and news on 1Xtra, Newsnight, Radio and Television Current Affairs, Today, WATO, PM,TWT and BH.  The department is the home of original journalism serving audiences across a full range of BBC outlets and platforms.
Impact is an important central team of multi-media journalists in News Programmes. It is a highly skilled production resource, supporting collaboration and multi-media projects in the Department to the benefit of all output across News. The team includes broadcast and digital specialists, maintaining the dedicated Programme sites and bringing ambitious, innovative material to BBC News onTV, radio and online.

Role

Contract:  4 x attachments/ftc of various lengths
News Programmes Impact has a number of vacancies at SBJ level to work in a range of output across our multimedia team, including : 
Global News long form TV; Radio Current Affairs; Panorama ; and our interactive web team.  As an experienced journalist you will be responsible for creating and publishing video and audio content and text articles, and reworking original programmes stories across different outlets.

Requirements

We are looking for imaginative, resourceful and creative candidates who understand multimedia working and have strong technical as well as editorial skills. You will have a detailed understanding of the range of output in Programmes and Newsroom and how to rework existing ideas and content to suit their different agendas and audiences. You will also need strong ideas for original journalism.  
The successful applicants will have experience of working in News and Current Affairs, and excellent  production skills in a number of disciplines with at least one as core. They will be excellent networkers willing and able to work closely with programmes staff on tough deadlines on a 24/7 basis.
Late and weekend working may be part of these roles. Candidates may be expected to travel at short notice and work off base or in Salford as directed from time to time.
