Established in 1987, SustainAbility is a think tank and strategy consultancy working with corporate decision makers to achieve transformative leadership on the sustainability agenda. Our small, diverse team works globally from offices in London, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate with passion for and experience in sustainability consulting to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area as an Analyst. This is an outstanding opportunity to work for a dynamic and passionate organization.
The Analyst’s Primary Responsibilities are:
• Provide research, analysis and advice for consulting and research projects
• Contribute to teamwork and innovation to ensure that we make significant and measurable change in moving corporations toward sustainable business models
• Play a role in business development activity in our consulting and think tank work
Key Skills and Competencies
Research, Analysis and Advice
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent writing skills and a mastery of PowerPoint
• Conduct corporate sustainability benchmarks for clients and help facilitate and lead on interviews with client companies and stakeholders
• Possess an ability to think critically and strategically, and to influence decision-makers and outcomes
• Assist with the facilitation of workshops, client meetings and stakeholder engagement
Business Development Activities
• Conduct background research on potential clients
• Support development of proposals by conducting research and creating presentation slides
• Identify opportunities for expanding relationships with existing clients
• Create proposals in response to requests from clients and potential clients
Teamwork and Innovation
• Contribute to SustainAbility’s intellectual capital through research and writing
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational objectives
• Take initiative on identifying and pursuing internal and external opportunities
• Work with remote teams across different time zones and cultures
• Demonstrate commitment to SustainAbility’s Mission, Vision and Values in a way that is modeled in behaviors
Minimum Selection Criteria
1. Bachelor’s degree (preference will be given for candidates with degrees in environmental studies, public policy, international relations, economics, business or a related field)
2. Demonstrated strong research and analytical skills
3. Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of the sustainable development agenda and how it interfaces with business, as demonstrated by an internship or other experience
4. Ability to present analytic findings to clients and co-facilitate client meetings
5. Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure, and to manage projects to deadlines
6. Enthusiastic team player with a positive and proactive attitude, showing proven initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
