Technical Support Specialist


Responsibilities:

  • Support a wide range of technology including Linux and Windows portable, desktop, and server systems and network systems
  • Install and maintain desktop and server operating systems and applications
  • Maintain and monitor system and network performance and security
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Write customer-facing documentation of all systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Willingness and desire to learn new technologies
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Linux system administration
  • Windows and/or network system administration
  • Programming and scripting ability (Perl, Python, shell, Java, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision within an interrupt-oriented environment
  • Project management and documentation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional client communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to learn several of the following skills:
  • Operating systems: Linux, Windows Server 2003/2008, UNIX, BSD
  • Networking: configuration management, monitoring
  • Databases: MySQL, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, SQL Server 2005/2008
  • Web services: Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat, IIS
  • Content Management Systems
  • Application distribution
  • Server virtualization
