The Role
The goal of Engineering is to be the preferred provider of competitive Aircraft Maintenance services to British Airways and its valued customers. To achieve this we’re looking for people who thrive in an engineering/mechanical environment, are passionate about providing the best cabin environments for our customers and can demonstrate they are professional, skilled and take pride in both their work and workplace. You’ll also need to have a full, valid in the UK, driving license and be able to pass relevant security and medical checks.
As a Cabin Mechanic you’ll be joining as the first Engineer grade and be supervised by a relevant licence holder, such as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor or Line Manager, working as part of a team carrying out a range of servicing and maintenance tasks in aircraft cabins or on cabin components (e.g. seat refurbishment, galley repairs, in-flight entertainment systems) whilst ensuring health and safety requirements are complied with. The ability to comprehend procedures and technical documentation, communicate effectively and work well in a team environment is key to success.

Principal Accountabilities
- Under supervision, perform servicing and maintenance tasks as directed in aircraft cabins or on cabin components as appropriate
- Upon issue of an identification stamp, annotate in the item completed box of a document, or other appropriate area, for all work where identification is required
- Driving and operation of vehicles, including mechanical handling, lifting equipment and elevated work platforms, to the limit of permits held
- Carry out computer and documentary transactions as required and make full use of modern technologies
- Take every opportunity to extend knowledge/skills base via training and coaching
The Person
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:-
- Understanding of basic engineering principles
- Mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer skills
- Health & Safety: understanding and application of
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to comply with airport restricted zone access security requirements
- Held full, valid in the UK, manual driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points, to comply with airside driving regulations
- Enthusiasm and self-motivation
- Teamworking
- Ability to pass a job related medical
- Ability to successfully complete an aircraft Induction Training Course
- Ability to complete and pass continuation training within each two-year period thereafter
- Demonstrate an active interest in the aviation industry
