The Role
 
The goal of Engineering is to be the preferred provider of competitive Aircraft Maintenance services to British Airways and its valued customers. To achieve this we’re looking for people who thrive in an engineering/mechanical environment, are passionate about providing the best world-class cabin environments for our customers and can demonstrate they are professional, skilled and take pride in both their work and workplace. You’ll also need to have a full, valid in the UK, driving license and be able to pass relevant security and medical checks.
 
As a Cabin Technician you’ll be working as part of a team carrying out routine inspections and rectification of defects relating to aircraft cabins or on cabin components (e.g. seat refurbishment, galley repairs, in-flight entertainment systems) whilst ensuring health and safety requirements are complied with. To achieve this you’ll have an EASA-66 Cat A licence with the ability to provide appropriate certification in accordance with British Airways Engineering Department’s Quality procedures.
 
In addition applying procedures, completing technical documentation, communicating effectively and being able to thrive in a team environment are key elements of this role.

Principal Accountabilities

Subject to Authorisations Held
  • Rectifying cabin defects including component changes arising from scheduled maintenance inspections, tasks and checks that fall within the scope of the appropriate authorisation as defined in British Airways Engineering Quality Procedures
  • Inspections: walk around, general visual / surveillance inspections
  • Maintenance tasks and checks
  • Issuing relevant Customer Release to Service (CRS) in the Aircraft Maintenance Log
  • Carry out relevant computer and documentary transactions
  • Involvement in continuous improvement: take opportunities to extend knowledge and skills base supported by training and coaching

The Person

 Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:-
  • Experience of working in an aircraft /maintenance environment as appropriate to hold an EASA 66 Cat A Licence and demonstrate good airmanship
  • Coachworks - cabin/ customer focused maintenance desirable
  • Ability to work without supervision, as part of or leading a team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures and technical documentation
  • Understanding of human factors and environmental legislative requirements
  • Customer focused approach
  • Good computer skills
  • Health & Safety: understanding and proactive application of
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to comply with airport restricted zone access security requirements
  • Held full, valid in the UK, manual driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points, to comply with airside driving regulations 
  • Ability to pass a job related medical
  • Ability to successfully complete an induction training course
  • Ability to complete and pass continuation training within each two-year period thereafter
  • Demonstrate an active interest in the aviation industry
