Purchasing Manager University of Warwick


Salary: £27,578 to £35,938 per annum (a market supplement of £2,000 per annum is payable for Members of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).
Our client is seeking a Purchasing Manager, to actively support the organisation’s purchasing function in providing an efficient and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders in relation to project and category based procurement. This will include ensuring full benefits of contracts and agreements are realised, exploring new opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies in order to achieve corporate and individual savings targets, whilst in addition making sure that the institution’s legal obligations and funding conditions are met.

As part of A dynamic Purchasing and Insurance Office, the role will be responsible for determining a portfolio commodity strategy and leading the procurement processes in accordance with University financial regulations, EU regulations and specific funding provider rules. The position will involve providing specialist support, advice and guidance, ensuring compliance with established purchasing procedures and financial regulations along with sourcing new suppliers and products in accordance with financial regulations. The individual will represent the department on purchasing projects with other University departments to ascertain that all requirements are met and value for money is achieved following tendering processes and evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating and awarding contracts.
The appointee will be a driven ‘can do’ individual possessing strong interpersonal and team building skills and the ability to communicate and implement benefits, procedures and  processes, at all levels. The individual will be educated or working towards a professional qualification in purchasing and supply, such as the MCIPS qualification, and will have strong experience in procurement, managing supplier relationships and an evidenced record of delivering savings on category spends in excess of £10M.
