General Functions
Duties: Our client requires the services of a National Civil Engineer to provide necessary on-the-ground support to our client during the course of the project and support the Multi-Sectoral Project Management Advisor to with a variety of engineering responsibilities related to construction and infrastructural projects in Iraq.
The National Civil Engineer's tasks will include: • Effective management of the project and related contracts in accordance with the terms of contracts, bills of quantities, technical specifications and project documents. • Progress monitoring and reporting • Technical approval process • Technical inspection and supervision of the works on site • Design change and variations • Review of workshop drawings • Preparation of cash-flow forecasts, support to financial monitoring and budgetary control process. • Processing of progress and final payments • Substantial completion procedures • Contract close out
Such works shall include close coordination with Contractors and other National and International Consulting Engineers assigned to our client’s various Iraq projects.
Reporting: • The National Civil Engineer shall report directly to ERPA management and Multi-Sectoral team Engineering Specialists for all required tasks, unless an interlocutor is designated.
Essential Experience
Education: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or any other related field
Work Experience: • Sound knowledge and 5+ years’ experience in contracts and construction management of large / medium scale multi-sectoral projects • Experience in implementation of projects in Iraq is required • Membership in established Engineers Associations is essential • Profound experience as a Project Manager with previous exposure in developing countries involving high risk environments
Competencies • Competency in AutoCAD and other computer-aided drawing programmes is essential • Competency in the use of standard Microsoft computer packages and project management / planning tools such as MS Project Manager /Primavera is essential • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs • Knowledge of project management systems and procedures would be an advantage • Project planning, design and management • Ability to plan and prioritise work activities to meet organizational goals, and to organize and oversee work processes efficiently to achieve quality results • Political, cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity • Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to people of different cultures, demonstrating an ability to see issues from different perspectives
Languages
• Fluent / Native Arabic (writing and speaking) is required • Fluent/Excellent English (writing and speaking) is required
