General Functions
Duties: The Project Management Engineer shall carry out tasks in relation to project management, construction supervision, project design, quality control, and construction administration, project monitoring and evaluation in support of our client for several large-scale construction and infrastructure projects currently under implementation. Related tasks will include completion of various civil works, architectural finishes, electro mechanical services, plumbing, HV AC, sewage treatment, boilers, external works, pavements, hard and soft landscape, fire fighting, fire alarm, medical equipment, etc. In addition some jobsites may feature capacity- building initiatives, and damage assessment initiatives. The array of responsibilities until all projects achieve final close-out is thus diverse and complex. The Project Management Engineer therefore is responsible to ensure that all such tasks are carried out in accordance with our client’s project documents, Conditions of Contracts, technical specifications, applicable international standards, standard project management procedures.
The Project Management Engineer will be expected to carry out tasks including but not limited to: • Effective management of the project and related contracts in accordance with the terms of contracts, bills of quantities, technical specifications and project documents. • Progress monitoring and reporting • Technical approval process • Technical inspection and supervision of the works on site • Design change and variations • Review of workshop drawings • Preparation of cash-flow forecasts, support to financial monitoring and budgetary control process. • Processing of progress and final payments • Substantial completion procedures • Contract close out
Reporting: • The Project Management Engineer will report directly to ERPA management for all required tasks
Essential Experience
Education: • Masters or equivalent degree in Engineering, Construction, or any other related field; additional years of relevant work experience in combination with a relevant bachelor's degree may substitute for the requirement for a master's degree
Work Experience: • Sound knowledge and 10+ years’ experience in contracts and construction management of large I medium scale multi-sectoral projects • Experience in implementation of projects in Iraq is required • Membership in established Engineers Associations is essential • Profound experience as a Project Manager with previous exposure in developing countries involving high risk environments
Competencies • Competency in AutoCAD and other computer-aided drawing programmes is essential • Competency in the use of standard Microsoft computer packages and project management I planning tools such as MS Project Manager !Primavera is essential • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs • Knowledge of project management systems and procedures would be an advantage • Project planning, design and management • Ability to plan and prioritise work activities to meet organizational goals, and to organize and oversee work processes efficiently to achieve quality results • Political, cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity • Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to people of different cultures, demonstrating an ability to see issues from different perspectives
Languages
• Fluent Native English (writing and speaking) is required • Arabic (speaking and/or writing) is strongly preferred but not required
