The Global Fund is an international public-private partnership that provides funding to countries to support programs of prevention, treatment and care for HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. To date it has committed 26 billion USD to grants in 151 countries.
The Global Fund to fight Aids, tuberculosis and malaria was created in 2002 to dramatically increase resources to support the fight against the three pandemics. As an international development finance institution, the Global Fund does not implement programs on the ground, relying instead on local expertise. The Global Fund works with partners to ensure that funding serves the men, women and children affected by these diseases with maximum efficiency and value for money.
