Assistant Manager

The Department of Community Health Sciences is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. The department comprises four major operational units: epidemiology and biostatistics, health systems, population, reproductive health and environmental health sciences.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager.
Responsibilities
​The incumbent will be responsible to:
  • provide support in managing the finance, administrative, human resources and logistics functions
  • support  programmes and grants related to education, training and research within or associated with the Department
  • assist the Manager in implementing the human resource policies and procedures with regard to hiring and placement of staff in various projects
  • coordinate and arrange training programmes for staff, including orientation programme for new staff 
  • assist in finalization of annual appraisal reports and increment recommendations
  • assist the Manager in periodic review of matters pertaining to grant management and making contractual arrangements
  • supervise preparation of various financial schedules, reports and cash requests in accordance with the requirement of funding agencies and AKU policies
  • make recommendations for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of administrative support systems
  • liaise with other AKU departments and maintain strong communications in writing with all concerned stakeholders
  • assist the Manager in long-term planning of faculty needs and support services.
Requirements
​Applicants should have:
  • MBA or Masters from a reputable University (foreign or local) with exposure to courses in Finance and Human Resource Management
  • at least three years of relevant experience at a management level in a reputable organization, preferably in an educational institution of higher learning
  • knowledge of administrative support requirements
  • excellent communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
  • sound knowledge of human resource and financial management and development
  • good interpersonal skills, social sensitivity and confidence.
