Water Plant Operator
DESCRIPTION
To operates the Kandahar Airfield water treatment plant under supervision of the US ROWPU Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for operating the water production system (daily routine jobs and check lists),
- Monitors plant operating parameters (flow meters and pressure gauges) to ensure adequate and properly treated water,
- Carries out laboratory testing for water quality,
- Calibrates laboratory testing equipment daily,
- Enters operational data into Daily Operations Log,
- Conducts preventive and corrective maintenance,
- Cleans chlorine injection tubes daily prior to start the unit,
- Inspects water storage area, chemical pumps and associated piping on a daily basis for signs of leakage.
- Maintains proper records of operation and maintenance jobs including spare parts cost and consumed man hours.
- Ensures that all precautions necessary for the safety of personnel and property are observed,
- Brings to the notice of Supervisor any alteration work or deficiencies which may impact plant operation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Water Duties Course (equivalent of qualifications required by O Reg. 128/04 (Water Distribution Operators Course) completed or in progress.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Valid Driving License
- Minimum of two years of water treatment experience.
- Class I Water Treatment or equivalent (completed or in progress)
