The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Specialist, Controls Consultant based in Montreal office, responsible for supporting the Manager, Controls to provide efficient and effective controls design and governance within IS&T applications. The role will assist design, implement and maintain an effective framework of internal controls, risk and control assessment, application controls design and application controls review. This role will provide governance, risk and compliance services and stakeholder engagement to IS&T Plan, Build, Operate, and external compliance teamsOur cutting-edge business opens doors for IS&T professionals by providing a work environment that is autonomous, encouraging, innovative and supportive. 
 
 
What the role entails
 
This position is suited to a highly experienced, technically skilled professional with solid experience gained in a global business environment. 
In this role you will;
 
Sustain effective relationships with IS&T & business process governance representatives, IS&T build teams, GBS and Rio Tinto Assurance teams, internal &
 
Provide effective facilitations where required between IS&T teams and partner teams for activities related to management & SOX assurance programs
 
Consult and collaborate with solution design and governance teams in relation to controls design, governance considerations, project scoping, estimation and definitions
 
Maintenance of Controls & Assurance framework documents, guides, tools and training materials, and development of new guides and training materials as required.
Execute, test and embed risk controls framework for change and release delivery and special projects
Identification of critical constraints in effective controls delivery and identification of options
Support operation of controls monitoring processes within the risk and controls framework related to management and SOX assurance programmes operated by the Controls & assurance team, including execution, monitoring and reporting, and execution of remediation actions as required
 
Apply acquired technical experience guided by precedents to assist remediation
 
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this challenging and impactful role, you will have;
3+ years relevant experience
Experience in risk management and control design and analysis for large organisation
Knowledge of COBIT and leading GRC applications
Knowledge and skills in SOX compliance and internal audit
 Demonstrated experienced in roles specialising in IT risk management, application controls, and IT general controls
Relevant professional qualifications
Good understanding of risk management concepts
Good understanding of application, technology & information management security & controls concepts including for SAP ERP.
Excellent communication skills
 
Demonstrated exposure in working with a large organisation that is internationally dispersed is essential.  Previous work experience gained in heavy industry or the mining field would be advantageous but not essential.
