ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Head Start and Children's Services
Oversee the center's clerical functions and general office procedures. Provide staff with any necessary assistance in completing assignments. Perform various administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, filing documents and coordinating the use of office space by other departments. Maintain department records for miscellaneous correspondence, telephone conversations and in-house communication. Work closely with other departments concerning purchasing, personnel, payroll and other administrative matters. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, with one year of experience in secretarial/administrative office procedures required. Previous work experience in human services preferred. Must have excellent communication skills. Bilingual skills in Spanish, French or Creole preferred. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
