The Organisation

QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets. 

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. 

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 

Position Summary

To represent QGC-BG as a leader and supervisor of well completions, workovers, and interventions at the wellsite, to:
• ensure safety and compliance with the Qld Petroleum & Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004 and the Qld Petroleum & Gas (Production and Safety) Regulation 2004. This role includes the responsibilities of Site Safety Manager as defined by the Act.
• manage all aspects of the completion and workover operations issued by the QGC Well Engineering Department to ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently, within budget, and to plan. 
• the Operator Company Representative – Completions & Workovers will oversee the work of Well Service contractors and service providers ensuring work is completed in line with contracts for service.

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific
Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. 
• In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, all OCR’s are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that they display exemplary HSSE behaviours and drive the same behaviour from all personnel involved in their area of the Business.
• All QGC employees (including contractors) must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training 
• Actively promote QGC’s safety culture, ensure all incidents and near misses are reported and act to raise safety awareness among contractors and crews

Safety & Compliance• Ensure that each person who enters the site has received a QGC field induction and a rig specific induction, including QGC and third party contractor personnel
• Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with local legislation, BG Standards, as programmed, and in accordance with good oilfield practice and to identify and challenge discrepancies when they exist
• Liaise with Management and Regulator representatives as required and communicate full understanding of Site Safety Manager responsibilities, Qld Petroleum & Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004, Qld Petroleum & Gas (Production and Safety) Regulation 2004, all relevant QGC SMS, PTW systems, Contractor SMS etc
• Ensure that necessary first aid, safety and other like equipment that is appropriate for the likely hazards of the site is available for use, adequately maintained and reasonably available to anyone authorised to be on the site
• Ensure safety has the highest priority and is at the forefront of operational planning, execution and in all dealings with contractors and service providers 
• Ensure all wells team are in compliance with required mandatory certification, along with relevant first aid and safety procedures and are fit to work
• Ensure all personnel on site, including contractor and service providers, have access to QGC’s Safety Management Plan for the petroleum tenure and comply with their obligations under this plan. 
• Attend Contractor safety meetings, HSSE forum meetings and ensure personnel on site hold regular Tool Box meetings
• Identify, assess and control hazards and effectively implement timely response to all reports of unsafe conditions, unsafe activities, accidents and near misses. This includes following QGC’s reporting procedures and assessing the root cause of the incident. Ensure follow-up on corrective actions
• Ensure all safety actions are tracked and closed out in a timely manner 
• Ensure an equipment assurance programme is in place 
• Ensure a documented trail to all key decisions, including but not limited to Management of Change, in accordance with QGC’s Safety Management Plan
• Monitor Journey management process and ensure compliance by all at rig and camp sires
• Emergency response preparedness

Operational Activities• Manage and monitor daily workover and completion operations to ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner
• Implement performance improvement measures on the rig and minimise non-productive rig time
• Monitor performance, costs, and technical integrity of contractors and service providers
• Ensure full well planning is performed in a timely manner to meet requirements of QGC well planning process
• Provide technical advice and troubleshooting for well planning, design and operation issue
• Daily testing, monitoring, and inspections of equipment and process compliance 
• Sign-off contractor daily tickets, service company tickets, material delivery tickets, confirming that the tickets are accurate and in line with the contract under which the services or materials are supplied
• Ensure equipment logistics are organized as required for wellsite operation
• Ensure the correct tools for the job and they have been serviced or are of good quality. Do not allow the use of inferior equipment
• Provide quality control over equipment and materials utilized in the well. Record model, ID, OD and serial numbers
• Provide operational feedback to Well Services Superintendent
• Prepare non-conformance reports (NCR’s) for any Contractors operational or equipment issues to allow formal tracking and close out
• Ensure deficiency items on rig inspections are followed up on and passed on at changeover’s
• Ensure a close working relationship with QGC 3rd party services
• Ensure all 3rd party services are onboard with adequate resources (people and equipment) to meet the scheduled requirements
• Ensure clear and formal handover to opposite shift and back to back OCR’s.

Reports and Reporting• Ensure that all Well and operation information is captured in the daily reports (Wellview) as directed by Engineering team. 
• Accurate and detailed cost tracking within Wellview
• Keep the Well Service Superintendent and Completions Engineer up to date on progress and any issues that may have occurred

People Management• Display exemplary HSSE behaviours and drive the same behaviour from all personnel involved in their area of the Business
• Share expertise and knowledge with crews to increase safety awareness and 
• Ensure a full team are in place to deliver all phases of the operation
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Training Requirements
Mandatory, must have• Current Well Control Certificate – IWCF onshore supervisor level
• OCR Certificate IV OHS (within 3 months of hire)
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate
• Authority training in the Joint Onshore Wellsite Permit to Work System
• 4WD training within the last 2 years and valid driving license for driving in Australia
• QGC Field Induction and Land Access training (provided before field start)

Experience Needed

Mandatory, must have• Exemplary HSSE behaviours and ability to visibly demonstrate personal commitment to HSE
• Drive towards technical and operational excellence and proven track record of results delivery and be capable of implementing a step change in HSSE performance and project delivery
• Significant number of years of field based completions / workovers / well servicing experience at a supervisory level on CSG wells
• Sound understanding of CSG completions / workovers / well servicing well design and execution processes. 
• Sound understanding of the technical aspects of well construction including pressure control equipment, Well Service rigs, artificial lift systems, wellhead systems etc.
• Supervision and management of operations and contractors at the wellsite level
• Proven experience with safety management systems
• Experience providing completions / workovers / well servicing technical advice and troubleshooting
• Experience with emergency response management 
• Experience leading small teams to achieve outcomes
• Experience managing contractors in line with a contract for service

Desired / recommended experience profile• Experience in other well services area – coiled tubing, slickline, wireline, P&A, stimulation, cementing etc

Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes
• Working knowledge of Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004, Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Regulation 2004 and Work Health and Safety Act 2011
• Work closely with contractors ensuring effective performance and expenditure control
• Effective people management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literacy skills including Wellview, MS office.
• Results orientated with a commitment to quality and continual improvement 
• Ability to make prompt decisions with a continual focus on safety outcomes

Special Features
• The incumbent will be required to travel domestically and work a regular equal time (normally two weeks on/ two weeks off) roster
• During the time on shift the incumbent will stay on either the rig or at the rig Contractors camp
