Attorney/Advocate
This full-time position requires providing direct services to victims of family violence crimes, as well as managing a team of court-based victim advocates, and extensive systemic advocacy. Services include providing support information and advocacy services throughout the criminal justice system designed to enhance the safety of victims.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, Safety Planning/Woman Defined Advocacy, the court system as it relates to domestic violence issues
- Knowledge of the criminal court system.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with diverse individuals and organizations.
- Ability to support and guide court-based victim advocates in the delivery of information regarding court process, including information about protective orders, restraining orders, prosecutions and the sanctions available.
- Experience with in-court advocacy relating to criminal or domestic abuse cases.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to gather information from and assist a diversity of victims.
- Ability to be flexible and to juggle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain service records, complete reports accurately and submit in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of, or a strong desire to learn about, domestic violence law and community resources.
- Professional appearance and phone manner.
- Good interpersonal skills and a desire to interact frequently with clients.
- Law degree.
- Transportation and a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds.
Salary Range: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 with excellent benefits.
