The Organisation

QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets. 

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. 

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 

Position Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance execution of all facilities, identifying equipment failures, isolating and managing the repair of affected equipment.

The incumbent is also required to liaise with key stakeholders ensuring quality repair work is undertaken, and evaluate the work of other technicians and equipment manufacturers. 

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific• Acts as relief Supervisor in the absence of the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Mentors entry level Mechanical Technicians and contractor Mechanical Technicians.
• Execute / Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on plant and equipment, safely and effectively, and provide technical assistance, as required, to the Operations Team.
• Inspect, test, adjust and repair equipment to satisfy appropriate Governing Standards.
• Work within OEM guidelines
• Demonstrate high level of fault finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
• Provide expertise that will be relied upon to give advice when making decisions on lifecycle management.
• Monitor and execute maintenance activities to ensure the highest standards in reliability and availability are achieved.
• Maintain and manage maintenance registers and databases for site specific equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance to manufacturers guidelines, maintenance agreements and warrantees.
• Participate in equipment performance checks.
• Maintain maintenance records through effective documentation in conjunction with the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
• Liaise with equipment manufacturers for their support where applicable
• Define, amend or advise procedures and schedules if required, for maintenance activities

Shutdown Tasks• Coordinate and supervise shutdown activities as required.
• Assist with development of the shutdown maintenance scope of work.
• Input into handover of equipment for maintenance from and to Operations.
• Participate in shutdown toolbox meetings
• Assist with the development of the job plan and labour requirements for shutdown maintenance task.

People Management• Assist with the coordination of day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Team
• Mentor others to ensure skill development within the team.
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes
• Ensure self and others work within the QGC way

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Experience• Demonstrated experience in a Maintenance role ideally involving the operation and maintenance of gas gathering and/or gas compression systems
• Experienced in oversight of technical staff and the ability to lead a team
• Demonstrated experience in managing manufacturing suppliers and repair contractors
• Familiar with a wide range of mechanical integrity management processes such as Reliability Centred Maintenance and Root Cause analysis
• Experience in a mechanical operations environment and in maintaining associated mechanical systems
• Experience with Permit to Work (PTW) systems
• Experience with the development of and commitment to, engineering systems, procedures and quality assurance
• Demonstrated leadership in field safety management and commitment to safety
• Experience in approving safe operating procedures
• Experience of working within a controlled change management culture to ensure that any changes are fully assessed and approved

Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes
• Trade qualified background with proven maintenance experience in field gas plant / gas pipelines and auxiliary equipment. 
• High level computing skills – Microsoft Office, PLC and engineering maintenance systems for plant and equipment
• Extensive knowledge of a Computerised Maintenance Management System.
• Ability to apply company and industry standards and skilled in the application of functional assurance processes
• Ability to constructively challenge others and negotiate successfully with internal peers, partners and contractors to positively influence decisions and improve ways of working
• Ability to collaborate with other core business areas to provide an engineering service that ensures asset integrity and longevity of plant and equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Results orientated with a high level of initiative and capacity to exercise good judgment
• Extensive knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies 
• High level interpersonal skills
• Ability to focus on the key operational issues and prioritise accordingly
