Fundraising and Development Coordinator

The Recreation Project (TRP) is an adventure-based therapy program that is working on the ground with youth in post-war northern Uganda. Youth participate in adventure-based therapy and sports programs, helping them internalize the important life-skills and character-building skills needed to navigate a new landscape. The Recreation Project has operated in Uganda for 4 years and has recently incorporated in the US - creating an immediate need for someone state side.
The Recreation Project is looking for a creative, entrepreneurial self-starter to lead stateside awareness and fundraising efforts for our small but crucial non-profit in northern Uganda. The Fundraising and Development Coordinator is a part time position. This person will work closely with TRP's founder (who is based in Gulu, Uganda) through skype and email, as well as with Board Members in the U.S. He or she will need to be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision. The desired candidate will be passionate about positive social change of young people and be able to articulate the importance of psychosocial support in rebuilding a peaceful and stable society.

Responsibilities
Fundraising: Conduct grassroots fundraising activities such as events and on-line and mailing campaigns; research and present to new avenues in the US, identify and reach high net-worth individuals; and research and write grants for TRP programming (including appropriate grants through our partner organizations in Uganda).
Marketing: Maintain TRP's social media tools; develop new networking opportunities; update TRP's website, support the communication and branding strategy, create and ensure consistent messaging.
Manage volunteers: The position may include recruiting and managing interns and volunteers.
Administration: The position will be responsible to coordinate tasks of volunteer/interns and board members and support them with their administrative needs. This may include: writing thank-you letters, tracking donations, follow up communications, etc…
Other tasks may emerge as we cooperatively identify and prioritize our needs.
Qualifications:
Degree in Marketing, International Development or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication
Great public speaking and presentation skills
Proficient in basic social media, ie: blogging, Twitter, Facebook
Experience with event planning and grassroots fundraising
Flexibility and a sense of humor
Grant research and writing experience a plus
Interest in outdoor adventure and/or social work a plus
Design software such as Photoshop and InDesignexperience a plus
Candidate must be self-driven.
Terms:
Type: Part-time, 15 hours a week.
Candidates should be in Denver, Colorado.
