Position Summary

This Global role which:
- owns a defined Subsurface services portfolio delivered to the BG Group and delivering core business outcomes, balancing risks and costs.
- handles relationship management with BG corporate and asset based Exploration and Development functions. 
- provides necessary assurance that IT&T Solution design and delivery is aligned to Operations service strategy and Programmes delivery.
- manages outsourced delivery organisations responsible for Subsurface specific services across multiple geographies

As a member of Global IT, collaborates with peers to deliver the programme of work and expected service levels as agreed with the business.

- Provides wide range Subsurface related expert analytical advice and consultancy, advising on solutions supporting decisions.
- Engages with Geology, Geophysics, Process and Reservoir Engineering functions stakeholders at a global level ensuring delivery is meeting business expectations and aligned to business targets and objectives.
- Provides critical audit and opinion to higher management on a wide range of global issues.
- Delivers integrated strategies, processes and workflows at a the Global subsurface function levels.
- Ensures Global delivery across the entire subsurface portfolio, ensuring team delivery across a range of responsibilities.
- Spots and reviews major subsurface trends affecting the Solution and Service development area.
- Formulates and executes the strategic plan for the defined service.
- Leads service budgeting and has ownership for the benchmarking for this service. 
- Provision a credible framework for performance reporting and rationalisation of the IT bill, thus ensuring cost transparency. Sets service pricing structure and owns service P&L.
- Ensures end-to-end support and SLAs are defined and met in alignment to business requirements. Ensures appropriate metric are captured and credible reporting mechanisms are in place.
- Owns the defined service ensuring outcomes are delivered to business expectations whilst ensuring favorable balance between risk and cost. 
- Works with Strategy and Portfolio Managers to establish and deliver on defined SLAs, ensuring that the appropriate service provision is instilled as an enabler to the desired outcome.
- Designs and defines service requirements to ensure that the total cost of operation and sustained levels of service are optimised and understood via the appropriate service catalogue.
The incumbent is the gatekeeper for service transition and acceptance processes for projects moving from implementation to production; provides SME input to the evaluation of potential impacts on the defined service from a project.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Essential experience includes:

- Oil & Gas Upstream domain experience in Subsurface related to Geology, Geophysics, Process and Reservoir Engineering.
-Track record of managing applications managed services and of achieving high levels of performance and customer satisfaction 
- Management of outsourced services in a large organisation, or substantial experience of delivering an outcome base services through third party service providers
- Management of third party application providers ensuring contracted services are delivered.
- Management of a multi-cultural skilled resource/customer base both on-site and off-site.
- Delivering outcome base services within the ITIL framework.
- Commercial acumen and previous responsibility for managing budgets and forecasting.
-Ability to constructively challenge the status quo.
-Understand the business constraints of both joint ventures and joint operations.
Preferably educated to degree level in either an IT related subject or a specific business functional discipline (e.g. earth sciences, engineering etc), however experience will be considered.
